The Master of Health Informatics at the University of Wollongong is designed to give IT professionals specialized knowledge in health informatics and to equip health professionals with robust IT skills relevant to their sector. The curriculum includes core units such as knowledge engineering, introduction to health informatics, security essentials, concepts and issues in healthcare computing, information visualisation and decision support, and system analysis and project management. Students may specialize further based on their previous background (either IT or health). The program culminates in a professional practice and research project. Graduates are prepared for roles managing health informatics projects, developing strategies in health departments, or leading informatics initiatives in hospitals and industry. The degree is accredited by the Australian Computer Society at the Professional Level.
