The Master of Applied Finance (MAppFin) at the University of Auckland's Faculty of Business and Economics is a 15-month, 180-point professional conversion master’s program. It prepares graduates for careers in corporate finance, investment management, banking, and financial consulting. The program provides a comprehensive curriculum covering financial theory and practical skills for enhanced financial decision making, and is closely aligned with the CFA Institute curriculum, supporting students aiming for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation. Industry engagement is a key component, including an industry-based consultancy project with real data, a capstone project, and professional development through the BNZ Financial Trading Room. The 2025 intake introduces new specialisation courses and increased flexibility of study. This program is designed for recent business and non-business graduates (excluding those with a major in Finance) and mid-career professionals without a finance background.
