The Master of Regional Development (MRegDev) at the University of Auckland Faculty of Science is an advanced, interfaculty programme designed to equip students with critical expertise in regional development policy and practice, focusing on environmental, educational, and social dimensions. It draws on economics, science/resource management, education, and social/community areas. The programme offers both 120-point (one year) and 180-point (1.5 years) pathways, determined by prior study and GPA. Students engage in advanced coursework, policy analysis, programme design, and research evaluation. Graduates are prepared for careers in government agencies, local councils, NGOs, consultancies, and iwi organisations, with skills for leadership and advocacy in regional development contexts. Flexible blended/online and on-campus delivery modes are available.
