The Bachelor of Education (Teaching) at the University of Auckland (Faculty of Arts and Education) is an undergraduate degree designed to prepare graduates for careers teaching at primary and intermediate school levels in New Zealand. The program is internationally recognised and ranked among the global top 50 in Education. It combines theory with substantial practical experience, including annual school placements (practicum) totaling up to 24 weeks. Students gain foundational knowledge in child development, curriculum design, and diverse teaching strategies while developing critical, ethical, and collaborative communication skills. The first two years integrate some flexibility with electives and practicum days, while the third year features an extended in-school teaching experience. Completion of the degree satisfies requirements for NZ teacher registration and provisional certification.
