The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the Faculty of Law, The University of Auckland is a four-year undergraduate programme consisting of 480 points. The programme is structured in two main parts: Part I covers foundational topics such as Law and Society, Legal Method, and Legal Foundations as well as non-law courses; Part II-IV focuses on core legal subjects including Criminal Law, Public Law, Law of Torts, Law of Contract, Land Law, Equity, and Jurisprudence, and a range of law electives. Starting in 2025, all new undergraduates must complete the Waipapa Taumata Rau (WTR) course as part of degree requirements. Students build analytical, research, and communication skills, and study legal ethics and the role of law in society. Auckland Law School is New Zealand’s highest-ranked law school and is internationally recognized. Graduates are prepared for legal practice or other roles requiring legal expertise.
