The UW–Madison MSW program at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work is structured as either a traditional two-year full-time program or a four-year part-time program. It provides a rigorous, generalist foundation in social work with opportunities to focus through electives such as SW 854 Crisis Intervention. The curriculum prepares graduates to address complex social, psychological, and community challenges, grounded in social justice and evidence-based practice. Both tracks include comprehensive field placements and allow students to individualize their program with focus areas including crisis intervention, mental health, palliative care, and more. The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and eligible for licensure in Wisconsin and neighboring states. Courses integrate advanced skills in crisis response, assessment, and intervention with diverse populations.
