The Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is an ALA-accredited program offered by the iSchool (School of Library and Information Studies). The program may be completed online or on-campus, with an optional concentration in Librarianship. The flexible curriculum includes minimal required core courses and a choice to specialize in librarianship, digital archives, information technology & user experience, data/information management & analytics, or organization of information. The program prepares graduates for careers in libraries, information agencies, and related organizations, equipping them with skills to lead, innovate, and manage information services. All students complete a 120-hour field practicum. The online option does not offer the digital archives concentration or all electives. The program is designed for those seeking leadership roles in academic, public, and special libraries, or other information-focused organizations. Strong job placement rates reflect graduate career success.
