The Bachelor of Science in Plant Science and Technology at UW-Madison, available from fall 2025, provides a rigorous foundation in plant biology, cutting-edge agricultural technology, and the impact of plants in food and industrial systems. Students learn the fundamentals of plant physiology, genetics, and ecology, as well as technological applications including drones, gene editing, automation, and artificial intelligence. The curriculum integrates hands-on experiences—such as lab work, field research, hydroponics, and data collection using remote sensing—with theory, and culminates in a capstone project applying knowledge to real-world challenges. Graduates are prepared for diverse careers in crop production, consulting, biotechnology, agricultural policy, and more, as well as for graduate school.
