The Bachelor of Science in Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education is an undergraduate program designed to foster skill development and critical understanding in studio art and visual culture. Students complete six foundational studio and aesthetics courses in their first year, followed by advanced coursework across four studio areas: 2D, 3D, 4D, and Graphics. The BS-Art degree offers flexibility, allowing students to pursue second majors, certificates, or deeper exploration of other academic interests. Approximately 17 of the 45 studio credits are at intermediate and advanced levels, resulting in a high-intermediate portfolio upon graduation. Distinct from the Bachelor of Fine Arts, the BS-Art is recommended for students seeking interdisciplinary study or complementing art practice with additional academic fields.
