The Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is an undergraduate program within the College of Engineering. It combines geology, engineering, mathematics, and physical sciences, preparing students to apply earth science and engineering principles to solve challenges in areas such as natural resource development, environmental protection, civil infrastructure, and groundwater management. The program includes essential coursework in mathematics, statistics, engineering fundamentals, soil and rock mechanics, hydrogeology, geophysics, and engineering design, and emphasizes both theoretical learning and field-based experience. International students receive instruction entirely in English and benefit from modern facilities and experienced faculty. Graduates are well-prepared for professional roles in industry or for further advanced degrees.
Careers include roles in hydrogeology, civil and mining engineering, environmental consulting, governmental and research agencies, or as preparation for graduate studies in engineering or geoscience disciplines.
