The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison provides foundational education in physical principles, engineering analysis, and hands-on design. The program emphasizes core technical areas including dynamics, mechanics of materials, fluids, thermodynamics, manufacturing (polymers and metals), mechatronics, computer-aided engineering, and robotics. Students complete interdisciplinary experiential design projects (capstone, ME 351/352) with real-world clients, integrating academic knowledge with human-centered design and teamwork skills. Graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in manufacturing, energy, transportation, robotics, biomedical devices, and more.
