The Bachelor of Science in Personal Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Human Ecology is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program emphasizing financial management and the economic well-being of individuals and families. Students may choose two tracks: (1) Financial Planning (a CFP Board-Registered program) focusing on careers in financial counseling, planning, and wealth management; (2) Consumer Finance, focusing on financial product development, technologies, and policy. The program provides extensive hands-on learning, including internships and peer-educator roles, preparing graduates for a range of personal finance professions. The program allows students to sit for the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) exam, with historically above-average pass rates. In addition to traditional on-campus delivery, the Personal Finance BS is also available fully online, expanding access to non-traditional students. UW–Madison’s Personal Finance program is nationally ranked and known for integrating real-world experiential learning.
