The AE-MSN program at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing is a direct-entry graduate program designed for individuals with a non-nursing bachelor’s or graduate degree who wish to pursue both RN licensure and a Master of Science in Nursing. The first year consists of an accelerated, full-time sequence of foundation courses aimed at RN licensure, including preparation for the NCLEX-RN exam. Upon passing the NCLEX-RN, students continue with 2 additional years of graduate coursework in a concentration of their choice: Leadership in Diverse Settings (LeaDS), Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AG-CNS), Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PC-PNP). Graduates are eligible for advanced roles in nursing leadership or specialization, and the program is completed in approximately 3 years of full-time study, starting each summer.
