The All-Level Special Education (Early Childhood – 12th Grade) program at the University of Texas at Austin prepares students to teach and advocate for children and youth with a broad range of disabilities. Students will learn to create inclusive and supportive classrooms for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, behavioral disorders, and mild to severe disabilities. The program includes 15 hours of prerequisite coursework before entering the Professional Development Sequence (PDS), which comprises field experiences and student teaching. Upon graduation, students are eligible for Texas teacher certification in All-Level Special Education (EC-12), General Education (EC-6), and English as a Second Language (ESL). Graduates complete over 1,500 hours of teaching experience, making them well-prepared for work in diverse educational settings.
