The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMedLabSci) at The University of Texas at Austin is a 3+1 program: students complete three years of coursework in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and related subjects at UT Austin, followed by a 12–16 month clinical practicum at an NAACLS-accredited affiliate clinical program. After the practicum, students are awarded the BSMedLabSci degree and are eligible to take the national certification exam (ASCP BOC) for Medical Laboratory Scientists.
