This undergraduate program, offered at the Jackson School of Geosciences in partnership with UTeach, equips students with a robust foundation in geosciences and teaching. Students prepare for Texas certification to teach middle or secondary school science, specializing in geoscience. Coursework combines geoscience, biological science, pedagogy, classroom fieldwork, and professional development. From the first semester, students actively participate in classroom settings and field experiences, guided by experienced educators. The program aims to foster educators capable of inspiring future geoscientists, hydrologists, and environmental scientists, with requirements spanning curriculum & instruction, interdisciplinary science and math, and focused geoscience studies. Graduates are prepared for composite science teacher certification, contingent upon meeting GPA and portfolio standards and passing a UTeach portfolio review.
