The Master of Environmental Management (MEM) at Yale School of the Environment prepares students to solve complex environmental and natural resource challenges at the intersection of science, management, and policy. The curriculum blends coursework in the natural and social sciences with experiential components, such as summer internships and leadership development, allowing students both depth and breadth. Students must specialize in at least one of several available areas—such as Business and Environment, Climate Change Science and Solutions, Energy and the Environment, Environmental Policy Analysis, Urban, Built, and Environmental Change, Water Resources Science and Management, or others. Graduates gain the knowledge and skills necessary for leadership roles in government, the nonprofit sector, and industry, both in the United States and globally. The class of 2025 was highly international, and the program emphasizes interdisciplinary, hands-on learning and professional development.
