The Yale Linguistics graduate program offers comprehensive training in core areas of modern linguistics and methodological approaches, covering domains such as phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics with integrative research spanning theory, experimental, and computational linguistics. The M.A. in Linguistics at Yale University is not a terminal or stand-alone degree program. Instead, it is awarded only to those students who withdraw from the Ph.D. program after completing required coursework, examinations, and work samples by the end of the second year. There is no direct admission or application track for a standalone Linguistics M.A. at Yale.
