The Diabetes Care Concentration at Yale School of Nursing is designed for final-year MSN students seeking advanced preparation in diabetes care and management. Open to students in select nurse practitioner specialties, it requires completion of a sequence of didactic and clinical practice courses. Students gain comprehensive expertise in diabetes management across the lifespan and various diabetes forms (type 1, type 2, gestational, monogenic). The curriculum includes NURS 6100 (Advanced Concepts and Principles of Diabetes Care) and NURS 6110/6111 (Clinical Practice in Diabetes Care and Management), with four hours of weekly clinical practice focusing on the student’s specialty area. Graduates are prepared for advanced diabetes care in a range of healthcare settings.
