The Bachelor of Arts in History at Yale University (Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Division of Humanities) is one of the university’s largest, most diverse, and most popular majors. Students examine centuries of human history, exploring changes in politics, government, economy, sexuality, culture, and intellectual life from a global or specialist (regional/thematic) perspective. The program is designed to develop research abilities, critical thinking, argumentation, and communication skills, using extensive library resources and emphasizing original research. The curriculum requires 12 term courses (including prerequisites and senior thesis), with options to choose between Global or Specialist concentrations.
