The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Yale University enables students to critically and creatively analyze fundamental questions regarding existence, knowledge, value, reason, mind, and language. The curriculum is structured around three principal areas: history of philosophy; metaphysics and epistemology; and ethics and value theory. Students take twelve term courses, including prerequisites, a senior requirement, and at least one logic course. The program encourages the exploration of influential philosophical traditions and texts, enhancing both analytical and argumentative skills. Advising is provided by the Director of Undergraduate Studies or selected faculty. Additional tracks with intensive study or interdisciplinary concentrations (e.g., Mathematics and Philosophy, Physics and Philosophy) are available.
