The BS in Earth and Planetary Sciences at Yale University's Division of Science (Faculty of Arts and Sciences) prepares students to use scientific principles and methods to understand Earth and other planets. Students study Earth's history, life evolution, environmental processes, climate change, planetary interiors, tectonics, oceans, atmospheres, climates, land surfaces, natural resources, and ecosystems. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches using physics, chemistry, and biology, supported by hands-on research in fieldwork, laboratory, theory, and computer modeling. Students choose from four professional tracks aligned with major research areas and career paths: Atmosphere, Ocean, and Climate; Environmental and Energy Geoscience; Paleontology and Geobiology; and Solid Earth Sciences. Graduates pursue careers in research, industry, policy, and education, with strong preparation for medicine, law, or public service.
