The Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Yale University is designed for students planning to pursue graduate study in ecology and evolutionary biology, other biological disciplines, environmental science, or medicine/veterinary school. The curriculum provides a broad education in biological sciences, from molecules, cells, and organs to organisms, communities, and ecosystems, emphasizing evolutionary processes. Students select from two tracks: Biodiversity and the Environment (for careers in ecology, evolutionary biology, and environmental science) or Organismal Biology (for premedical and preveterinary students). The program shares prerequisites and core requirements with the BA degree but differs in electives and senior requirements. Opportunities for independent research (lab or field-based) and study abroad are available. Courses include foundational topics like Conservation Biology, Data Science for Ecology & Conservation, Phylogenetic Biology, and Tropical Field Biology. Majors must complete prerequisites (college-level biology, chemistry, and math), core EEB courses, electives, and a senior requirement. All major requirements must be completed for a letter grade.
