The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics program at Yale University's Division of Science (within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences) offers rigorous training in core areas of physics, mathematics, and experimental science. Students complete a structured curriculum covering advanced classical mechanics and thermodynamics (PHYS 4010, 4020), quantum mechanics (PHYS 4390 or 4400), as well as independent laboratory research and advanced electives that can span other sciences or engineering. At least one senior project (PHYS 4710 or 4720) is required, providing hands-on research experience. The program prepares graduates for advanced study or immediate careers in academia, industry, or government. Small classes and strong faculty engagement in research are hallmarks of the program, and students are encouraged to pursue research collaborations early in their studies.
