The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Yale University, offered by the Department of Sociology within the Division of Social Science (in FAS), provides students with the theoretical and empirical foundation to understand how societies function and change over time. Students can choose from six undergraduate pathways: the standard major, economy and society, health and society, data and society, inequality/race/society, and a student-designed program. The curriculum covers topics such as social groups and identity, cultural evolution, intergroup relations, social norms, social inequality, and social change. The major requires 13 term courses (including requirements in theory, methods, and a senior requirement) and allows for course concentration flexibility. The program prepares graduates for a wide variety of careers, including law, public health, business, education, urban planning, and social research.
