Berkeley's Master of Urban Design (MUD) is a one-year, STEM-designated, post-professional program aimed at those with prior accredited professional degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or City and Regional Planning. The program is renowned for its interdisciplinary curriculum, with advanced courses and studios led by faculty from Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Planning. Students address real-world urban challenges at multiple scales, from large metropolitan cities to smaller towns, developing skills in team-based and individual design, research, and critical analysis. The program culminates in an advanced thesis studio project, and graduates are well-placed for careers in globally recognized firms, nonprofits, and governmental agencies. California's diverse urban context provides a unique 'living laboratory' for innovation in spatial equity and resilience. Graduates qualify for 3-year OPT visas thanks to the STEM certification.
