The Master of Information Management and Systems (MIMS) at UC Berkeley's School of Information is a two-year, full-time interdisciplinary program preparing students to become professional leaders in information management. The curriculum integrates technical training, human-centered approaches, and hands-on learning, fostering expertise in the design, building, and management of ethical, effective, and scalable information systems. The program requires five core courses, advanced electives, a substantial group final project, and a summer internship is common. MIMS graduates pursue careers at leading tech companies, consulting firms, government, non-profits, and academia, focusing on the intersection of people, information, and technology. Core areas include information organization, retrieval, law and policy, programming, and data analytics. Students can further specialize in domains such as data science, HCI/UX, information policy, and innovation.
