The UC Berkeley School of Law LL.M. program is designed for foreign-trained lawyers and provides foundational knowledge of the U.S. legal system while allowing for significant customization. Students complete core courses in U.S. Law and Legal Research & Writing, with the flexibility to pursue a range of electives and specializations. Two formats are available: the traditional 9-month academic-year program (in-person) and the executive track (flexible, with part online and part on-campus study options). Graduates may become eligible for bar exams such as California or New York. The program attracts a diverse international cohort from over 50 countries, with opportunities to participate in legal clinics, journals, and pro bono projects.
