The Master of Science (MS) in Epidemiology at UC Berkeley School of Public Health offers rigorous training in epidemiologic and biostatistical methods and theory. The program is interdisciplinary, and students gain a strong foundation in research aimed at understanding factors affecting health and disease distribution in populations. The curriculum includes at least 24 credits in epidemiology and biostatistics, a minimum of three months of epidemiological research, and electives to foster interdisciplinary expertise. Research areas can include infectious and noninfectious diseases, with increasing emphasis on the role of social and physical environments. Graduates are prepared to contribute to epidemiological research, disease prevention, and public health program evaluation.
