The MPH in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at UC Berkeley School of Public Health is a two-year professional master’s program. The curriculum emphasizes biology and molecular biology of host-pathogen interactions, immune responses to infection, epidemiology, transmission dynamics, surveillance, and vaccinology. Students are trained through interdisciplinary coursework, laboratory-based surveillance methods, core public health disciplines, leadership, and a field study. Graduates are prepared to design and implement investigations, and are equipped for careers in public health, research, epidemiology, and policy making. A comprehensive exam and an analytical paper are required for graduation. Admission is competitive, typically enrolling 17-20 students each year from 60-75 applicants.
