The Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering at UC Berkeley is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that trains students to apply modern engineering skills to solve complex problems in biology and medicine. The program encompasses foundational study in math, physics, chemistry, computer science, and biology before focusing on bioengineering fundamentals and advanced technical topics. Students can customize their studies through one of four concentration areas, and every student completes a design-focused capstone or research project. The curriculum includes 120 semester units, covering both college-wide requirements and bioengineering-specific courses. Graduates are well-prepared for roles in industry, research, graduate or medical school, and positions requiring advanced analytical and engineering skills.
