The Bachelor of Arts in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies (AGRS) at UC Berkeley is an interdisciplinary area studies major focused on the languages, cultures, histories, philosophies, literatures, art, and archaeology of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds. Students engage in small cohorts and may opt for language study in ancient Greek and Latin or complete the degree entirely with courses taught in English. The major is preparatory for careers in law, medicine, teaching, writing, business, and graduate studies in anthropology, archaeology, history, and art history. Core courses cover Greek and Roman civilizations, key literary and historical works, and the archaeology of the ancient Mediterranean.
