The Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology at the College of Letters and Science, University of California, Berkeley, is an undergraduate program focused on the molecular structures and processes of cellular life and their roles in the function, reproduction, and development of living organisms. The curriculum covers molecular genetics, cell structure and function, biochemistry, developmental biology, immunology, neurobiology, microbiology, genomics, and bioinformatics. Students choose one of five emphases: Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Cell & Developmental Biology, Genetics, Genomics & Development, Immunology & Pathogenesis, or Neurobiology (Neurobiology will become a distinct Neuroscience major from 2025-2026). The program provides extensive opportunities for research, critical thinking, and lab work, preparing graduates for careers in health, research, biotechnology, education, or graduate/professional schools.
