The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Metabolic Biology (NMB) at UC Berkeley's Rausser College of Natural Resources is a newly consolidated undergraduate major (beginning Fall 2025) that merges the previous specializations of Physiology & Metabolism, Toxicology, and Dietetics. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in biology and chemistry, with upper division coursework focusing on the biochemistry and physiology of nutrients, dietary patterns and their role in disease, nutrient absorption and metabolism, molecular regulatory mechanisms, and the technical and conceptual processes of nutrition research. The major prepares students for advanced study in health sciences and for diverse careers in biomedical and nutritional research, public health, and related areas. Students can also participate in research, student organizations, and optional honors programs.
