UCLA School of Nursing’s two‑year Master of Science in Nursing (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) prepares RNs with a BS in Nursing to specialize in Adult/Gerontology Acute Care, including a Clinical Nurse Specialist pathway. The curriculum integrates theory, pharmacology, pathophysiology, advanced assessment/diagnostics, systems‑based care, CNS theory and residency, and extensive supervised clinical practicums that meet state and national accreditation standards (California BRN, AACN, and related professional organizations). Dual Adult/Gero Acute Care NP/CNS students complete additional intensive clinical coursework in the summer between years one and two. The AG-AC CNS pathway focuses on advanced clinical expertise, quality improvement, education, and systems leadership in acute and critical care settings.
