UCLA School of Education & Information Studies offers an undergraduate major in Education and Social Transformation that prepares students to analyze current issues in education through a social justice lens and to become effective advocates for positive change. Students learn from developmental psychology, sociology, and comparative education; engage in educational research and evaluation; and develop competencies across histories and philosophies of education, contexts of teaching/learning/development, and inquiry and design for learning. The program emphasizes diversity, pluralism, equity of opportunity, and social justice, preparing graduates for roles in educational organizations, government agencies, research firms, social work, community organizations, and for further graduate study.
