UCLA’s new Southeast Asian Studies BA is housed in the Department of Asian Languages & Cultures. Students choose a primary Southeast Asian language concentration in Filipino, Indonesian, Thai, or Vietnamese and build broad cultural competence across multiple countries in the region through interdisciplinary coursework. The curriculum prepares graduates with strong language proficiency and regional knowledge applicable to careers in business, journalism, diplomacy, NGOs, cultural institutions, education, and academia.
