UCLA’s Greek and Latin B.A. (in the Department of Classics, Division of Humanities) provides intensive training in both classical languages and advanced study of Greco‑Roman literature and culture. Preparation includes foundational Classics surveys and first‑year sequences in Greek and Latin (or approved intensive summer substitutes). The major requires upper-division courses in each language (including Greek 110 and Latin 110), additional approved upper-division Classics/related courses, and a capstone seminar (Classics 191). Students may, with consent, enroll in select graduate-level Greek/Latin 200-series courses. Department offerings regularly include language, literature, history, art/archaeology, and civilization courses, with options to accelerate the language sequences through summer intensives (Greek 16/Latin 16).
