UCLA’s Japanese B.A. is an undergraduate major in the Department of Asian Languages & Cultures emphasizing advanced proficiency in modern spoken and written Japanese and broad, detailed knowledge of Japan’s premodern, modern, and contemporary culture across literature, linguistics, theater, religion, and film. The program prepares students for careers related to Japan in business, media, diplomacy, cultural institutions, education, and academia. It is an undergraduate Humanities major offered within The College at UCLA.
