The Master of Science in Neuroscience at Penn State College of Medicine is an interdepartmental program designed to train graduate students in broad and interdisciplinary aspects of neuroscience. The curriculum includes foundational and advanced neuroscience courses, seminars, and laboratory research rotations in the first year. Students select a laboratory and conduct thesis research in their second year, culminating in a written and defended thesis. The program’s research covers cellular and molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, formation and function of neural circuits, neurodevelopment, and neurodegenerative diseases. The program brings together scientists from various basic and clinical disciplines and fosters multidisciplinary and collaborative research in understanding, diagnosing, and treating nervous system disorders. Students pay standard graduate tuition, and financial aid is generally not offered for master's students.
