The Integrated Undergraduate-Graduate (IUG) Program at Schreyer Honors College enables academically outstanding students to earn both a baccalaureate and a master’s degree in a continuous and accelerated program of study. Scholars in the program can integrate any existing Penn State undergraduate major with any existing Penn State master’s program, subject to department approval and university guidelines. The program allows individualized course planning, some double-counting of credits, early graduate faculty mentorship, and accelerated research opportunities. Admission is competitive, with significant emphasis on academic achievement, research experience, honors coursework, and clear articulation of educational and career goals. Applicants design and submit an individualized IUG plan, reviewed by their major and college, and must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40 to remain in good standing. IUG students must complete both undergraduate and graduate program requirements, and cannot double-count thesis/capstone experiences for both degrees. The typical program duration is five years, but may vary depending on the undergraduate major selected.
