The Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition at the College of Agricultural, Consumer & Environmental Sciences (ACES), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is an ACEND-accredited program that prepares students with high-tech scientific knowledge and applied skills in food and nutrition. The curriculum integrates physical and social sciences to address current health and nutrition problems. Students participate in hands-on cooking labs, undergraduate research, and internships (minimum 50 required work hours), often supporting campus food programs or athletics nutrition. The program is foundational for those intending to become registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN)—graduates are eligible to apply for an ACEND-accredited dietetic internship, a mandatory step for RDN candidacy. As of January 1, 2024, a master’s degree is also required to take the RDN credentialing exam. Career tracks include clinical dietetics, sports nutrition, wellness education, and community health leadership.
