The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Music (CS+Music) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is an interdisciplinary program designed to equip students with a strong foundation in both computational methods and music theory, composition, and technology. The curriculum balances core courses in computer science (algorithms, software engineering, AI) with courses in music history, composition, digital audio, and music technology, preparing graduates for careers in music technology, music application or plug-in development, digital audio synthesis, music and AI, and related industries. The program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours and includes a capstone senior thesis or senior project, as well as general education courses. Students must achieve competence in a language other than English and can expect hands-on experience and opportunities in music technology research or industry internships.
