The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Teaching at the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is designed to provide students with strong foundational knowledge in chemistry along with pedagogical skills required for teaching chemistry at the secondary level. The program combines rigorous coursework in general, organic, physical, and analytical chemistry, as well as education-oriented classes in teaching methods, educational psychology, and curriculum design. The curriculum prepares graduates to meet state licensure requirements for teaching chemistry in high schools. Students also participate in practicum experiences in local schools to gain real-world teaching practice. The program leverages UIUC's nationally ranked chemistry faculty and research resources.
