Purdue University's Financial Counseling and Planning (FCPL) program, housed in the College of Health and Human Sciences, prepares students to become trusted financial advisors by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for comprehensive personal and family financial planning. It is the only Purdue program registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board (CFP®), and successful completion satisfies the education requirement for CFP® certification. The curriculum covers personal finance, investment and savings decisions, estate and retirement planning, tax law, ethics, and more. Students benefit from experiential learning, including mandatory internships, industry-standard software training, and networking through the Purdue student chapter of the Financial Planning Association. The program emphasizes a blend of theory and practice, teaching students to help others achieve financial security and literacy in a rapidly changing field.
