Purdue University's Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing, offered by the College of Veterinary Medicine, is an AVMA-accredited program designed to prepare students for careers as credentialed veterinary nurses. The curriculum combines fundamental and advanced veterinary nursing topics with hands-on clinical experience across a wide range of animal species. Students gain technical skills and knowledge in anesthesia, surgery, radiology, medical laboratory techniques, and animal care. Graduates are prepared for national certification (VTNE) and careers in clinics, hospitals, research, wildlife, and industry contexts. The program is highly competitive and emphasizes both academic excellence and practical competence. The on-campus program is structured for four years; the first year focuses on prerequisites and foundational coursework, followed by a competitive entry process for advanced years.
