The Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering at the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, University of Florida, is an ABET-accredited program designed to prepare students for careers at the intersection of biology and engineering. Students are trained in biological and environmental sciences as well as engineering, and they address problems involving land and water resources, biological systems, production agriculture, and packaging innovations. The curriculum includes specializations in biosystems, land and water resources, agricultural production, and packaging engineering. Educational outcomes feature the application of mathematics, science, and engineering principles to biological systems, design of experiments and systems, and effective technical communication. Graduates are educated to address sustainability and utilize technology to design solutions for biological and agricultural systems. The program requires 128 credits, typically completed in four years.
