The Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics at the University of Florida's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is designed for undergraduates seeking scientific or technical careers in astronomy, astrophysics, or physics, or for those intending to pursue graduate studies in related fields. The program provides fundamental knowledge in modern physics, electricity and magnetism, mechanics, and their application to the universe, covering planetary systems, stars, galaxies, and cosmology. With a rigorous curriculum combining mathematics and physics foundations (20 credits) and major coursework (42 credits), students learn observational techniques, critical research skills, and scientific communication. Research experience is encouraged via participation in undergraduate research with faculty. Students must complete 4000-level coursework with a grade of C or higher, and demonstrate proficiency via faculty-graded assessments. The department hosts a vibrant research community with access to advanced resources, including observatories and high-performance computing facilities.
