The Bachelor of Science in Meteorology at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, University of Florida, offers rigorous training in the study of atmospheric physics, chemistry, and dynamics, as well as the interaction between the earth’s atmosphere, the land, and the oceans. The curriculum provides comprehensive foundations in meteorology—including forecasting, climate modeling, and hazard analysis—and hands-on experience via computer-based labs and practical assignments. Students choose among specialized tracks (Applied Meteorology, General Atmospheric Science, Broadcast Meteorology) to tailor the degree to career goals in public, private, or nonprofit sectors, or for further graduate study. Career outcomes include positions in weather forecasting, climate analysis, consulting, research, and broadcasting. The major consists of 120 credits, with 21 credits in core meteorology courses and further coursework depending on specialization.
