The Master of Science in Computer Science program at the Whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, is a rigorous, research-driven graduate program offered at the Homewood campus in Baltimore. The curriculum covers core topics such as algorithms, data structures, machine learning, computer architecture, and software engineering alongside a broad range of specialized electives, including robotics, human language technology, and artificial intelligence. The program provides flexibility for students to tailor their studies, encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, and prepares graduates for roles in academia, industry, and research. Students are assigned a graduate advisor and may pursue official or unofficial concentrations. There is an official Human Language Technology concentration administered with the Center for Language and Speech Processing, plus opportunities to follow application-focused or general tracks in AI and other areas. Most students complete the residential program in 18-24 months of full-time study.
